For the first time in its history, the Phi Alpha Cup is headed to the state of Florida. Friday it was announced that Ft. Lauderdale edged out Bandon Dunes and Seminole to host the iconic event in 2015.

Day 1 will be played at the highly-regarded Jacaranda Golf Club, with the morning matches on the East Course and the afternoon matches on the West Course. Day 2 matches will be at the famous Plantation Preserve.

“This is a huge get for Florida,” said Florida Governor Rick Scott (R). “A lot of money exchanged hands under the table for us to make this happen.”

The 2015 Phi Alpha Cup will be the biggest sporting event held in the state of Florida since Super Bowl XLIV, which was held in Miami Gardens in 2010.

There will be no shortage of storylines in 2015, with Team 97 gunning for the first 3-peat in Phi Alpha Cup history and Team 98 still reeling from a highly-publicized internal scandal that is still unresolved (Read story) (Buy T-shirt)

Ft. Lauderdale becomes the fifth host of the Phi Alpha Cup, following Pinehurst, NC (2); St. James Plantation, NC (4); Wlimington, NC (3); and Bray’s Island, SC (1).
