The people have spoken.

In a move to become more interactive with their fans, last year the Phi Alpha Cup Executive Committee announced it would let the fans pick the venue for the 2014 10th Anniversary edition of the Phi Alpha Cup. The results of the poll were released today, with the top vote getter being announced as Wilmington, NC. Wilmington topped the poll with 24% of the fan vote, edging out Doral in Miami, FL (20%) and Bermuda (14%) among others (View poll here).

The Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus designed Landfall courses will host the Day 1 Individual Matches, and Castle Bay, owned by the restaurant chain Medieval Times, will host Day 2’s Captain Choice Team Match.

“We really couldn’t have picked a better city or two better venues to play this milestone match,” said Team 98 Captain David Johnson through a statement released to the press. “We would like to thank the fans for their participation over the years and especially for picking such a magical destination for this 10th Anniversary edition of the Phi Alpha Cup.”

“I loved going to Medieval Times as a kid and loved the scene from the restaurant in the Jim Carey movie The Cable Guy,” said Team 97 member Steve Burr. “I expect to have a unique comfort level with Castle Bay for the Captains Choice Round and similarly expect Team 97 to go ‘midieval’ on that Team 98 a**.”
